It is my pleasure and great honour to go up today on behalf of the people of Cariboo-Chilcotin to provide my comments in response to the throne conversation in this fifth program of the 40th parliament. First, I’d like to wish all people of the House an extremely rewarding and productive legislative session.

Our province is the envy of Canada for our growing and thriving overall economy. I am extremely proud that a lot of our province’s prosperity comes from the natural resources in outlying regions, including the Cariboo-Chilcotin. About the entire year forward Thinking, I am filled up with hope. Yes, there will be challenges for all of us, but it is to all people to turn those problems into opportunities up.

As I stated, resource industries are vital in the Cariboo and the Chilcotin. The people of that one area will work jointly to bring investment in those key industries – and everything industries, generally. As we know, a strong overall economy we can strengthen our sociable programs, create jobs, and curb criminal offense and homelessness.

Our government continues to aid all communities inside our great province. Last March I had been honoured to be called Chair of the Rural Advisory Council, that was set up in 2014 to help identify opportunities for small areas to diversify their economies. The rural advisory council is made up of 14 other folks from rural British Columbia, from towns such as Skidegate, Vanderhoof, McBride, Armstrong, Christina Lake, Port others and McNeill. One of the rural advisory council’s suggestions was the creation of the rural dividend fund to aid smaller communities in transitioning their economies. 75 million over the next 3 years to financial stimulus tasks in smaller communities.

As the global reference economy is in transition, some of the grouped communities that contribute the most to B.C. The rural dividend can help communities that are working to reinvigorate and diversify their economies and support them in investing in place their own solutions predicated on each community’s values and needs.

The rural dividend will support innovative and ambitious ideas and solutions with potential for the greatest impact on rural neighborhoods. 25 million per 12 months pilot program will run from 2016-17 to 2018-19 and be available only to communities outside cities with a inhabitants of 25,000 or under. The funding will be administered by the Ministry of Forests, Land and Natural Resource Operations, which has responsibility for rural development.

This is a great chance of the folks of small neighborhoods – not government authorities – to interact. I hope to see as many communities as you possibly can addressing make their common goals possible.
